Trouble seeing the grid.

Postby MasterMontgomery on Wed Nov 20, 2019 1:27 pm

Recently I have missed a lot of short putts. The problem is I have trouble
seeing the bumps on the grid.
The yellow line can be very difficult at times, but the reddish has become impossible.
Most of these putts are 8 feet and under, but with a lot of break.
Im not sure if it is my eyes or what is going on. I do know that my right wrist was really hurt
from hitting the keyboard. In life I seldomly ever get mad, but missing a short putt brings
the devil out of me. Its actually embarrassing to get this upset over a game.

Doug, I noticed a long time ago seeing the grid most of the time for me is what texture/color the designer used in making his course. I've started playing a tourney and said before, "Oh yea, I remember this course and reading the greens are difficult." esp. for those step counters. One reason for a while all I played was Elite. For the players that use the "blind mans stick" it doesn't bother them.

Just my 2 cents.

You can turn off colour coded grid in "Game Settings", and you should be able to test it on/off during a round. I dont know if it will help for you but worth trying out, if Im not wrong it turns the whole grid yellow, so could help when the red grid is the main problem at least.

I turned off the colored grid and only use the yellow but yes, on some courses it is difficult to read the yellow grid.

Question: what is this "step counting" that you talk about?

Thanks for the ideas. But, im not sure how to set it to yellow line
only.
For the step counting : here goes. A step either faces the hole or it
faces away from the hole. Do not use the green analyzer. Then count how many on the
right side face the hole and how many face away. Ones that face the hole break towards
it while ones that face away do the opposite. So you get a total, lets say 5 towards and 2 away.
that means a break of 3 towards the hole. Now lets do the left side an say we come up with
2 towards and 4 away so that equals 2 away. so we have a total of 5 breaking to the left.
I then would use a 5 inch break on a 10 ft putt/ Longer putts you would need to add more. Trial and
error. Just something i got use to. But(lol) if you cant see them its rough
And of course f/f will need more break than s/s an so on.

tks
Doug :)

start Links Doug, go to OPTIONS, go to GAME SETTINGS, under MISCELLANEOUS uncheck (untick) "USE COLOUR CODED GRID", click OK.

I've never used the color coded grid.....hate it ! with a putt, I initially "Step Count" with a yellow grid only, THEN "feel the putt" to make any adjustment to my Step Count total. I average about 20 putts a round.......

Maybe this is why it takes some players 40-45 minutes per round? I've always just looked at the grid and place my marker here and say "this should work". lol
