Plsa & wind

The last two weeks plus this week, the plsa has all rounds with wind.
Not a complaint , rather a different issue. I seem to score okay in the wind,
but the problem lies with the time. Being one of the slower players(40-45 min) per round
and that is with no wind, im probably over an hour in pro with wind. The fault being i set
the shot up then wait for the wind to die down. That is for Breezy and gusty. For windy i wait
for a full wind. So what am i getting at? A couple more no wind rounds would be nice.

As of the start of the wrap around season, I'm helping with PLSA. I will decide about wind based on the course. (Ex: I may have windy for a Hawaiian course or a desert course, but doubt you'll see it on a course like Pinehurst where the tall loblolly pines tend to diffuse the wind.

So far, even though I've revisited all wrap around courses, there have been 3 pin positions that I would consider unfair. I apologize for those. If that course is used again next year, those will be fixed. I will say that while the slope will allow a missed putt to run a good ways past pin, the putt coming back should stop even if left short.

I don't believe much inf Firm(Challenging)/Fast(Challenging). It's like a Stimpmeter of 18 and usually even the U. S. Open doesn't let the roll go that high. Moderate(Challenging)/Fast(Challenging) is about the most you'll see out of me.

I try to think IRL when setting up a course. As a normal rule conditions and greens get tougher and faster through the week and weekend as the greens continue to get mowed and, if no rain, things get faster and faster. I can remember in the past seeing things like (Soft(C)/Fast(C) followed up by Firm(C)/Slow(C)) which is simply not realistic IRL.

I know in the past there have been some horrendous conditions and pin placements on the PLSA. I'm trying my level best to make the courses tough but fair.

When I hear wind... I think WINDY. There's always a breeze. Gusty is as easy as Breezy if you're patient... the wind will invariably die down to almost nothing if you're ready to hit and wait for it.

I doubt you'll ever see no wind on the PLSA.

What are you talking about? I'm simply telling you my philosophy on how I assign wind on PLSA. I said nothing about how to play the game.

Ok, PLSA follows the IRL Pro Tour as closely as possible... both courses and conditions. I ask you if you've ever seen a situation where there was absolutely NO breeze for all 18 holes of a round IRL? BREEZY is approx 2-7 mph. That's pretty minimal and realistic.

If you want NO WIND and easy conditions where you can birdie every hole, I suggest you write Mark (lstouradmin) and maybe start and administer a tour that fits your needs and likes. I don't say that sarcastically,. You should enjoy playing LSPN. You should have a tour to your liking.

But again, the PLSA mimics the Pro Tour... and has always tried to for the many years I've played it. Last year, the schedule of events was out of whack because it failed to update to the 2018-2019 sched. I've corrected that for the 2019-2020 season. I've worked very hard to make the conditions a fair test. There were also, in the past, many completely unfair pin positions for the PLSA. I go through every hole of every tournament, one at a time, to make sure the pin for that round, hole and conditions is fair to the player.

Again, I don't make the PLSA to my liking, but to what i observe as i watch the Pro Tour.

so much for enjoying the play that i have enjoyed since the inception.

good thing some people get to have it exactly as they wish, which from what i am reading is not how most players want it.

as far as ll this precise pin placements i can see it being a problem for the challenge version, never been a problem for regular play imho.

wadever ... things sure are not what they were and that is a real shame.

IMHO and FWIW - (in general) in any tournament, i LOVE 2 rounds of NO WIND, one BREEZY, one WINDY ! throw in the Gusty every now and then, to replace either the Windy or Breezy.

two NO WIND rounds allows the mouse to recover after being thumped and thrown during the Windy/Breezy rounds
