Played a lot of pro this week with a very average snap and clearly as long as the snap misses are not big ones the game is very manageable. Some miss snaps go where you aim anyway and others ( not with long irons or woods) would usually leave a reasonable length putt to hole.
Move to champ with the same average snap and its a whole different game. Miss snap off the T and its quite likely you're in trouble especially if the rough is deep rough. Hitting greens becomes harder as I've just found out missing with 9 irons and PW.
Feels a bit like i've gone back to when I started playing Links. I had a fairly consistent miss snap back then and for a long time I allowed for that snap for aiming left almost knowing I would miss snap late. Now it feels like I'm missing late about 50% of the time. Off the T I allow for it by aiming as far left as I can but with approach shots I have to believe i will hit the snap and suffer the consequences if I don't. I've tried allowing for it by aiming left a few times but sod's law comes in and I miss early for a change.
Does anyone here consistently aim to allow for a miss snap?
