Question2 .....By installing it the same way you did for all the other versions of Windows.

My system doesn't meet the requirements to update to windows 11. My processor isn't supported? I am running an Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz. Don't ask me why. I have seen where you can upgrade by bypassing this. Don't know what I will do when the time comes. Do the hack or buy a newer machine. I did the hack on an older laptop that was still lying around the house and seems to run ok. My current laptop has 11 on it and I do run links on it. The problem with it is the graphics and I had to run the Voodoo2 wrapper just to get links to load. The problem with that is the steps don't show up right with the graphics and look like small yellow marks that you can't see which way they are stepping. You can see by the slope indicator on the side which way they should be going but not if you have some double breakers.

As Echoes says, he has been running Links with no problem with 11.

as Echoes said ....... by installing it on a Windows 11 machine !
do you have a DVD read/write drive to install off the Links DVD discs ??

my Windows 10 wouldn't upgrade to Win11, so i had to spend $1,005 (AUD) - about $648 US dollar, to invest in a new Windows 11 machine - a White Box with all the bells, and Links installed so easily and runs perfect ! you will need to manually install RUKSHUK file to override Administrator permissions IF that presents any problems on install.

any specific problems you might encounter, post back here and we can help :D

Links will play fine long after Microsoft ends support for windows 10, no reason to switch for the games sake.
I have been running windows 11 pro since September 2022... it upgraded to 24H2 in March. If i have the sound on links crashes often, with sound off no crashes at all. I still hear the club striking the ball, and the ball striking anything else. Otherwise it runs on win11 the same way it ran on any computer i've had the past 25-30 years. Swing meter always seemed fast the 1st few days

Your statement above makes me wonder if you may have a corrupt sound file (*.ssf) that is being used. Have you tried removing the default sound script - assuming that is the one you are using - or changing to a different ssf? It could be the main script for the game or possibly the ssf script for your golfer.

That is a normal crash effect on many machines. I had to do the same thing as Echoes and still hear the club striking the ball and my golfer commenting on his shot. That's all I need to hear. Also, my Quality is set just one click higher than the lowest and I play with NO sky. I have onboard graphics and not a separate card.

Maybe I’m lucky as I have no sound at all. Not even the club striking the ball. LOL

Every windows version after win 98, or the not as widely used ME. Starting with XP has crashed via sound files. When playing multiplayer fastplay over 20 years ago XP players would disappear the moment someone played a wav.
I think Microsoft did it purposely knowing they were dumping the game.

Using a sound editor and going thru every wav, individual course sounds, then every individual .ssf, in all my soundscripts, to r o o t out all considered corrupt, would be quite tedious seeing how it would have to be done with every OS or computer change.

Much easier to just turn the sound off, and put on the tunes for tour play.

I turn everything on when i play career mode, no penalty there, just a momentary restart.

#metoo... not the [censored] movement, the not being able to upgrade to 11 movement. Fortunately, that's not the computer I play on... but it's still frustrating.
