New PC

So I have the new PC and installed Links and had a trial round last night on the tour which worked ok. Phew
The but though is I also have a new mouse and its very different for me. I hear a new mouse is often the biggest thing to get used to and based on what I've found so far that's very true. The round i played last night was at Cambrian and that's one of only 6 courses I currently have. I played an amateur round as the snap didn't matter LOL

I looked at this week's events and downloaded a course to play one of them ( working out how to download a course was a nightmare for me as it was slightly different to what I had been doing) I had a go at pro and it hit home that I will take a while to get used to the mouse. 1 over after 6 wasn't a good start and finding water with a 6 iron to the green made me laugh.

Got to give it a go though and if all else fails it's back to the old mouse. Maybe a week I reckon.

Trying an event for mouse practice and it feels quite comical. By the end of the second round I managed to hit the snap when using a wooden club just the once. You can get away with it a lot of the time with a T shot by allowing for the big slice but not with approach shots.
Putting and short irons isn’t too bad but anything with a 1,2,3,4,5 wood is very scary. Sort of fun

I keep my Razer Salmosa, which I've had for 12 years, specifically for playing Links.

It's the only mouse I've found that gives me anywhere near a straight swing path on a regular basis for powerstroke, though hitting a snap is less of a guarantee.

I've tried many other mice over the years, but they all seem to give huge out/in or in/out swing paths no matter the settings used. It is particularly problematic on the putting stroke, as even a small offline swing can ruin a putt.

I've spent weeks at a time over the years trialling settings with no luck.

You probably already know this, but if you can copy your course files from your old machine to your new one (perhaps via a portable hard drive), you won't have to redownload everything to play your courses. Probably still need to do the "Add course" thing to help Links "re-find" your courses.

Thx Ronnie. Just finished that first event and started to hit the odd snap But still basically hitting plenty snaps that are more sand snaps than 6 oclock. All drives are aimed at the left edge of the fairway and hoping it will hang onto the right side. I think c/c is a long way away

I'd love to say the LogiTech M-100, but the way I'm playing I'm not so sure.

I do agree that it's the key to a degree. That little microswitch can make a huge difference.

It's a work in progress. It's certainly not just the mouse issue I seem to have but also the monitor. It's an all in one system and the screen I have is bigger than anything I've had before and I'm thinking that is an issue as well. Played a round last night where it seemed it was all coming back. Then started this morning in a round where I couldn't hit a snap at all and the big slice was back.

All over the place and having to aim left to allow for it But getting there and maybe it's all in the mind

Last round in the pro PLSA told the story. 6th hole trouble on the right so aimed the T shot waaay left. Still manged to find the deep stuff waaay right. Into the deep stuff and took 3 to get out. Bogey

Did quite well from then with a few good snaps. Got 18 and eagle would be nice but cant afford a miss snap. Had to aim straight, miss snapped and managed a lovely 8 hitting water twice Ah well playing the champ round on challenging could be serious fun

My biggest problem (along with getting used to the small mouse and snap) is I can't see the grid breaklines on the green. In my pro event this week, I made 11 pars. 9 of them were from miss-read putts. Here is a look at my grid lines on the laptop.

Yep looks like mine now and definitely a little different to what I had before with a smaller screen. I’m sure nothing is actually different except the size and feel from what I see. But at least I hit the snap most of the time on putting.

I have always missed snaps on T and approach shots and I always will but I seem unable to stop wild miss naps Ona few occasions just now. Latest T shot one on Latrobe left me over 50 yards wide of target. Just had to laugh and lose a shot.

Roy...I suggest you turn on your frame rate. Options, Golfer settings, put a tic in that lower left box . It will show in the lower left part of your screen. Links should run at 31. See if during those wild misses that frame rate drops significantly, dropping to 30 or 29 is normal, but big drops signify other programs are stealing your links thunder. If that all in one computer is borderline you may have to look at turning some unnecessary things off.

Thanks. Just did that and it was at 31. Played a shot and I think it flickered while rendering to 32 or even 30 so I guess that sounds right.
Had a fun pro round in one of Johnny's events and it's more than likely I'm fairly sorted now with everything including the mouse and the crazy snaps are probably just down to me being an [censored].

I think it is a battery one…but it’s sitting on the side watching now as I moved back to the old one. Can’t see me going back either.

Out of interest how would you know a new battery is needed? Is it as simple as it stops working or would it get “ iffy” as it gets close to dying.
