i disagree, frank. if you don't have a modicum of pc knowledge, let someone else update ie for you. though my primary browsers are opera and firefox, ie7 is a vast improvement over ie6. at least ms is trying, albeit too little, too late.

All IE7 is doing is setting tighter settings as the default, you just need to add more things manually, same thing if you updated to McAfee's new security center, you need to allow certain programs to access the internet.
And if you get a chance top of the screen has a search area, type in IE7 and you'll find your answer!

Postby Frank50 on Tue Nov 14, 2006 9:32 am

it is the only thing i did when i started PC and i could get to Links be4 that ...
my only conclusion is that IE7 was the cause

i have lowered security ... disabled firewall ... allowed http://www.ispn ... lowered pop up security ... clicked on 1.05 update ( had that already but did it again ) ... checked ispn testing ... went to see and Use sys Int set is UNCHECKED, connect tho lan IS checked ... i rebooted may times ...
check the registry and it says ispn ...

i still cannot get into links online area ... obviously i can access the ispn site because here i am but i cannot get to the games ...
oh whoa is me ... i was so enjoying playing again with others ... what am i to do ?????

That should read lspn not ispn. Also under connection settings did you uncheck "use proxy server"?

you could still blame IE7, for some reason it has changed connection settings in the game.
it did not when I installed it but a couple of others it has.

ie7 is hurt. ie7 says he's not ever going to be as good as opera or firefox now.

i strongly urge anyone buying courses/links to support links corner. links corner gets a portion of the sales of courses. links corner supports lspn. i'd much rather support links corner than ebay or your corner software shoppe's discount bin.

IE 7 sucks and does render some older video editing programs, useless. I sang the old version of "Drop Kick Me J-e-s-u-s Through The Goal Posts of Life" as I jettisoned IE 7. :)

Had the same problem after installing IE7, whenever I ran Links and went online the program reported it couldn't find an Internet Connection and offered to try Dialup (which also returned no connection found). Cured it by going to Connection settings at the bottom of the log in page which pops up when you request Online from the Links main menu, unticking ther 'Use System Internet Settings button at top of window, and ticking the 'Connect through LAN or Connect Manually' button in the Connection Type box.

This sorted it immediately and I have had no further trouble.
