Another shot in the dark: Have you recently upgraded your Firewall protection, if so does the Links.exe file have permission to access the Internet
I just had McAfee change their security center and I needed to add a lot of programs to the list.
After the install it only allowed about 6 programs to access the internet.
(don't know why matchmaker would work but not let you in the normal game?)

edit: I havn't used matchmaker or tried to, so I'm of no use to any answers about matchmaker

None of this works what everyone has suggested. It was working and now it doesn't. IE 7 is the only thing that is different but I do not believe that is the problem. The launcher is in the links folder and I can and have played thru the matchmaker page. For some reason the launcher is not connecting thru my Links game.

and it won't. the match maker link is hard-coded within the game to point to a microsoft box. there's no way mark will be able to redirect the link without the source code for the game.

Installed IE7
Made no changes to anything
Fired up Links 2003
Connection took a little longer(25 sec vs 10)
Played full rd no problems
So, either your missing something or your not giving us enough info
I'll keep you informed if some problem occurs

I don't think it is IE7, and now I am sure. How do I check the launcher as to how it is in the Regit? And what is it suppose to say?

Use syst internet settings - unchecked
Connection Type - LAN
Use Proxy server - checked

I also went thru windows exployer found the launcher and deleted. Ran the program from this site and the file did not even go into the Links Folder. I did it again and saved it manually to the links folder and I checked it and it was there. Installed it from the folder and still nothing. It is not converting the launcher or installing properly. I also found the Beta one and tried to install that one and it does not work either. There is a missing or damaged componet in my Links game that is not allowing the conversion. Does that sound right or no? :(

I have tried everything that I can think of .I find that Links 2003 works with IE 6 , and do not work well with IE 7 THE NEW INTERNET EXPLORER. If Any find answer Please Advise me. For now I am going back to IE 6. Thank for all the experiment LOL.

That worked. Unchecking Proxy. I think IE7 changes some settings on the PC because I have never touched the settings before. I am having trouble with Live Messenger too. Thanks all!!
