wireless routers

Postby tryandtyoneon on Sun Mar 25, 2007 12:09 pm

Before I get one and post that I'm having connection problems with matchmaker, Is there a particular kind/type that isn't an issue as far as connecting with other peeps for online play.

I've lost the big office to my daughter, put the boy in her room and have inherited the 8x8 cell he lived in and there is no way to run a line to my new play area. Cool thing is I'm watching this get typed on her 32" LCD, but that too won't last.

Thx in advance,

Murray

my first was a d-link something-624-something. it worked great, had good coverage around the house (2000 sq ft), but wouldn't work with the company's vpn for some reason (company and d-link tech support couldn't figure it out).

so i got a netgear wgt624v3, that works great with everything.

i can see where a vpn client might have problems with a router's firmware. but gaming is as generic as you can get. if you can't get it to work, user error.

I haven't played MM for a while, but never had any issues when I did...I'm using a Linksys WRTG45...one thng to watch for with a wireless router is anything in the area that also uses wireless technology, such as cordless phones or doorbells...they can cause interference.

Those of you needing the settings for your ports and how to set them up for your specific router, you can find everything you need in a sticky topic at the top of the Lobby Games fora.

This link has almost every router instructions on how to set up to play LinksLS.
Hope this helps.
