most of the registry fix programs i have tried won't give you all the features in the trial. if you have 100 errors in the registry, they'll fix 10 at a time. very frustrating if you're evaluating a product. but there are tons of registry fix programs out there, so i'll assume it's a dog eat dog business.

meeting alert: i've got to goto a meeting. i'll be back after to give you some ideas on where to go to look for programs. sorry for the hurry.

edit: ok, sorry for the interruption. but a vendor bought dinner. can't pass that up.

i filtered on free, and windows xp, but you might wanna peruse through them to determine how 'free' they are. also, you might wanna consider something that works with vista. that will be my next search.

RegSupreme works in all its glory for the trial period. You can obtain it from http://www.macecraft.com and their website indicates it is compatible with Vista (you must be logged in as an adminstrator).

I reinstalled LINKS 2003 AND now I can get into the add courses ,where I couldn't before, but I can not get online now to play tournaments. I REINSTALLED Links MOD 1.06 and LSTour_EnergySite. I get a message saying "an update to your version of 2003 is required." then it tell me to click the url to get to the website.

Also, I am on cable . My connection should be "through Lan or connect manually " not through dial up. If so what address should be in there and what port.

jim, the linkstour energy stuff is defunct. run this:

http://test.lspn.net/test/LSPN_Main_Site.exe

also, do not check anything having to do with a proxy in your connection settings.

Jim,

It would appear that installation is a bit finnicky. Although some work is involved, you may wish to uninstall everything for Links (keeping your courses, players, etc.) and then reinstall. Install Links first, then run the 1.05 update. Start Links and check to ensure it is indeed 1.05. Then, apply the LSPN patch and see if that works.

Others have mentioned that they like to install 1.02 update before the 1.05 update (despite 1.05 apparently being a cumulative patch). If you want install 1.02 and then 1.05, you can download it from here:

Armand,

I reinstalled Links again, but I still cannot get on. I STILL GET THE SAME MESSAGE . "an update to your version of Links 2003 is required. Go to the following URL to download it . Update URL .

Launch Web Browser"

I clicked this web browser button and it takes me to my links 2003 FOLDER. i don't see anything there I haven't put in Links.

jim, would it be possible to give us EXACTLY step by step instructions on how you're reinstalling links? give us the links you're using to get the v1.02 (as armand suggested) and v1.05 updates. and give us the link to the reg file you're using to point to the correct game server.

Also, while you're doing that run regedit and check which server you're pointed at click Start>Run>type "regedit">double click "Microsoft">double click "Microsoft Games">double click "Links 2003">double click "Links Tour", then look beside the word "Server" and tell us what it says there.

Then go back to the menu scrol down a bit and click on the "System" folder, look beside the word "Version" and tell us what it says there.
I reserve the right to be completly wrong

Jim,

Please verify the version and build that Links is running on your computer:
When I start Links 2003, v1.05, I get Build 02.10.02.0401
When I start Links 2003, v1.06, I get Build 02.10.02.0401 (the same).

When you start either 1.05 or 1.06 and click on Options, then About, it will give you the version and the "Build".

Also, I have Links set to "Use System Internet Settings" checked. If I uncheck that, Links is set to connect "through LAN or Manually". If selected, uncheck "use system internet settings" and make sure connect through LAN is checked. Also, ensure that there is nothing in the "Proxy Server" area. Then re-check "Use System Internet Settings" and see if that makes any difference.
