While playing Links 2003 lately, I have noticed that the game has been crashing while playing a round of golf or in the practice mode after approximately 15-20 minutes. When it crashes, the screen will turn black for about two seconds and it will then go back to the boot-up screen. Once it does this, I can click on the Links 2003 shortcut icon and it will allow me to resume play and it will not crash after that and I can finish the game. When I first installed Links 2003 after buying a new computer in March 2017, the game played fine, but I had only played in the practice mode at the time. Also, I only downloaded the latest patch, 1.07 for Links 2003 and didn't feel it was necessary to download the earlier patches for the game. I also recently updated my NVIDIA video drivers and wondered if that had anything to do with the crashing problem. If anyone has experienced this problem with their system, I would be very interested in knowing what I can do to correct the crashing of Links 2003.

That may be the answer. I would roll back the update and give it a try.

I did try to roll back to a previous NVIDIA graphics driver, but not sure if I did or not. Would you know how I could check to see what version I have? Thanks!

I would bet that you have 16GB of RAM, not 16MB.

My first thought was heat, but if you're able to continue playing for the rest of the round without issue (and reading that it is a new machine and not likely full of dust or cat hair!), it probably isn't heat. Still might be worth looking into and cleaning up any build up of dust or whatever in the fans of the machine.

I'd suggest that you install the nVidia patch in addition to 1.07 patch. You can get it here:

I think that might just be the fix you're needing. Make sure it installs in the same directory as the main game and as 1.07.
