can join but can't host

i have done everything i can think of.
can someone please stir me in the right direction.
every time i try to host, my oponent gets a failed connection

Can ya do me a solid and give up some info on your system......Router/Vista/xp.... yada yada There's a laundry list of things ya need to check/configure but knowing what you're running might shorten it.

i have a linksys wrt54g router, xp pro, avg, zone alarm pro.
my router is still configured for links when i played a year and a half ago and i had no problem then when i played in the lspn lobby.
i tried disabling avg and zone alarm, but still no luck.
have the port settings changed for links.

i was just looking at my router ports and my ip has changed.
thats probaly the problem.

I have the same router.......no doubt if your IP has changed all your settings are moot....Change to match the new addy and you'll be good to go

You could try using Port Tiggering insteat of Port Forwarding on the router. Port Triggering allows the ports to be opened for any local address.

I have same problem now that I have Vista. I can host IP so obviously ports not a problem, cant host from lobby but can join tho the start button doesnt seem to be active for the host. Again, I can join IP and play games fine. And I can host IP and play fine.
Is there a Vista setting that is not allowing me to host from lobby ? Anyone else running Vista that can host ? Did you have to do anything !?!? Thanks.

Look for the Registry Key....

"DonTAlloWDoBBertoHosTinLSPNbecauseHeSAPliCK.dll" and delete it.
