Black Rose Valley

I've downloaded Black Rose Valley from Links corner via File Planet like I've always done. This time the files seem to be locked. How can I get this course to 2003 courses. I've never run across one that says locked.

Don't worry about it. All that means is that the designer locked it so it can't be opened in the APCD. Doesn't effect how it works in Links. just do as you normally do.

Well I kept extracting it like all the others, and it kept going into the courses as a read only file. So i went back and sent it to a new zipped folder, and this time it extracted it as a course. I don't no why it was different from the other fifty or so I've downloaded, but at least i finally got it.

The course was likely zipped with read only attr set

After you unzip a file, it it's read only, you should be able to right click on the file and select properties and uncheck the read only attribute.

P, you'll be glad you stuck with it. as a very good champ level rts player, you will appreciate some of the approach shots at black rose valley. it's too bad that we didn't get any firm greens there this week, because that's when the course really demands some judgement. it's a beautiful paul seaman fictional track with well above average architectural demands. lw

Larry I think even w/o firm greens Black Rose Valley demands sound judgement on the approach shots to have a chance to make birdie. Being in the wrong spot kills many birdie chances. At least it does with my putting ability or lack there of. LOL! Its a challenge for sure. Not a course to be agressive on IMO.

dennis, (lol) at champ firm, it takes sound judgement on approach shots just to make pars on some holes from the middle of the fairway. lw

Not only are the greens hard to manage but your drives also must be positioned correctly. Even with a perfect drive the ball can roll into the rough.
We never have time to do it right, but we always find time to do it over.

I agree Larry with some of the difficult pin placements and firm greens it would be awkward but I think Black Rose is a lot easier than Lagolochan Bay. Boy the greens there are trick as hell.

Terrell,mr. higgi, you might have a point. I tried a few tee shots using my 3wood, and avoided some traps. My score wasn't better, but i had SOME control.
