A tip that has worked...

... and boy to I need it the way I've been playing.

When I was typing up fitness reports and even when I was documenting computer programs, I'd often try to go so fast that I'd make tons of errors and have to go back to fix them. Counterproductive. What I would do is go back to make sure my fingers were on the "home row" ASDF - GH - JKL; I'd be careful to keep them there and slow down a bit. Gradually I could speed back up without so many errors.

I've found in the past that when I'm playing Links poorly, as I have been, the secret to coming back is to keep the ball in the fairway at all cost even if it leaves a lengthy approach shot. There's a good bit more forgiveness in a 3-metal than Driver. That's usually the route I take. This is especially true when there's DEEP GRASS (HEAVY ROUGH).

It depends on the course, but sometimes you can get away with putting the driver in the trunk and put in a 2W and not give up as much distance. There's a fair bit more forgiveness in that club.

Another tactic is to learn how to hit shots with the power one click less than 12:00. That is also much more forgiving.
