Does Links 2001 work in Vista O/S ?

Postby garfran on Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:15 am

The question, does Links 2001 run in the Vista operating system, was asked in Links 2001 Tech forum, but there was no definitive answer. Does anyone here know one way or the other ?

conversely, i have a honkin' stereo and dvd player, but my tv's are 10 years old (byproduct of having the ability to change flybacks and tuners).

I hear ya terrell. I have an old 19" Magnavox I watch while using the computer. It has no remote control but the cable box takes care of that for me. DVDs look great on it with the picture and color almost the same as the day I brought it home. Without a single repair ever it's still going strong 28 years later. :D

The reason I was interested in an answer to this question is that I do not have a computer with Vista at present. I would only consider purchasing one if I was sure that Links 2001 works on Vista. The same may apply others who read this forum.

My 8 track player worked with the new Bose speakers so you should be good to go, loading Links '01 on Vista

holy crap. you're basing your decision to buy vista on whether you can run links 2k1 on it? if that's it, stick with xp (or whatever). there's been no straw poll i've seen, but i'd bet you're it.

wow, max. i bow to the master. there's nothing in my house (except me) that's 28.

of my 3 sets, i've replaced the flyback in all of them at least once. and one of them, i've replaced the tuner twice! fortunately, a friend of mine gives me contractor pricing (what, you thought everyone paid the same?).

Eventually I may purchase a computer with the latest O/S, but I would appreciai\te it if there was someone out there who would know for sure whether or not Links 2001 will work on MS Vista. Surely some kind person would know by now.

and i'm telling you, for the vast majority of peeps here, 2k1 would run on vista perfectly. your results may vary. if you buy a new pc, buy it with vista. but do not switch to vista on an existing pc. you will have problems.

i understand what you're saying. i do it everyday. i peruse the forums to see exactly what experiences peeps are having with certain products. and that's what you're trying to find out. but it only takes one person to prove to me that it's possible to make something work. 2k1 will work on vista. there ya go.

edit: i was also thinking in the time it's taken me to type these posts in the last coupla days, i coulda easily already had 2k1 up and running. but that still doesn't mean everyone could have it up and running.

Terrell, your comments about a legimate question are very cavilier. A moderator should not to take questions of this nature so lightly and with an attitude.

Thanks a lot Mark. I am not expecting to be into Vista until about May next year, when I may just be able to get a new U-beaut PC. Good to know that the old game is accomodated,
