Ryder Cup Pro

I am going to try something a little different for the Pro Ryder Cup. I am taking the top 24 players in the Cup standings just before the East Lake tourney. 12 per team, alternating them in the standings for equal teams. I have also picked the next 8, 4 per team as alternates. Thus if one person on say team RED does not finish, the first alternate will take the 12th spot and everyone else on that team will move up.

Example: if say Harpo did not finish then Dr golf would go to the 12th spot and everyone else would move up for matchplay.

The lowest team score will get 2 pts. Then I will matchplay the scorecards hole by hole for each 12 matches, 1 pt for win, 1/2 for ties.

The matchplay will be against player across from you. (Roy vs Dirk) etc.

I am picking the 4th round as the cards to use for matchplay.

How does this sound? Any questions?

I think the teams would be fairer if you had snaked the placement Jim.
#1 red #2 and 3 Blue #4 and 5 red #6 and 7 blue... and so on. Other than that it looks good.

That sounds like a good system. It's all in fun but trying to get the teams somewhat even. I will load up the new teams. The team play is only for the 2 pts and it will be interesting how the matchplay works out.

Here is what the new teams look like. Some players have changed teams but it turns out that the match play players do not change. It's all in fun so this is what I will go by.

The sheets are made up and ready for the Cup.

Hope everyone turns out. If not then the alternates will be added in.

Here are the example sheets for team and match play.

Of course match play is for the complete 12 team members.

They have some remarkable asphalt on the left side of the fairway on hole 18 of that course. As i found out when i sliced my drive in round 2 and received a free drop. My old eyes had to rely on the text as i couldn't tell the difference between rough, or asphalt. All in all i had a decent round for team blue.

Here are some advanced scoring so far. I am hoping the few players that have not started to play join in. I only see 2 of the alternates have started playing. I have extended the alternate list in hope that we can fill a full team on both sides. I may have to go way down the Cup standing's list to fill them.

Problem! Game just froze on my last round. I assume I just take the 2 stroke penalty but how does it go for this competition?

No problem Roy, just keep playing. Even the pros sometimes get a penalty stroke for some reason. We have all been bitten by a computer bug or powersurge.

Here is an update on the Cup scoring so far. I have added the next players on the bottom that will be alternates if needed and it looks like it will happen at this stage in time. The scores look a little lopsided right now but when I add the rest of the players I'm hoping it will be closer. Roy's side is missing 3 players and they will be from the lower of the standings so maybe their average will go up. Also looking at a few of the matchplay scores that are in the Red team is leading 4 to 1.

Ok, here is the final Ryder Cup Results for 2023. Please if you can, double check my results as I do make mistakes. Alternates were added to the teams as they were added from the FedEx Cup standings.

This was fun and interesting.

Congrats to the RED team.

Thanks. Same to you. We had a good match, holes 6 thru 9 were tough.
You had a great tourney, finished way up there, congrats.

Sorry - I would have loved to have played, but I was down in Honduras last week w/o the means to do so. Hope everyone had a good time with it!
