Microsoft Broke My PC

Microsoft patched/updated my PC last night and now i can't login to it. I get the nice pretty splash screen, but it doesn't give me the password entry block. I've tried dragging the screen up, but it just bounces back. I've also tried to go into recovery mode, but when in there I have no keyboard or mouse. I know we have some really smart Windows guys here. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

I have done that, it just has a mild flash and returns to the splash screen.

I just replaced my hd for a SSD and made one just in case. When things are going good we tend to forget that something odd may happen and get lack on doing it.

I do have backup on a separate drive on the PC. What I don't have to a boot ISO. I took the automatic Win 10 upgrade from Win 7, so I have no boot DVD. I'm almost thinking I'll have to do a new install. Good think I have time to do so now that I retired last week.

Have a look at this:- https://www.guidingtech.com/fix-windows ... me-screen/

Or:-
Try Startup Repair

To launch the Windows startup repair menu, all you need do is to use the power button and restart the computer continuously until you see the Advanced Menu option. When this menu shows up, click on it and select Troubleshoot >>> Advanced Options >>> Automatic (System) Repair. Wait for the repair process to complete and allow the computer to reboot normally.

Or:-
Use Command Prompt

Another way to solve the “Windows 10 stuck on welcome screen” error is via the CMD utility. For this method, you have to follow the steps from “Try Startup Repair” as above to launch the Advanced Menu option. However, this time you won’t choose Automatic Repair, but Command Prompt.

In the CMD interface, type/or copy & paste without "" "sfc /scannow" or "chkdsk c: /f /r" Either of these commands will scan and repair your Windows computer automatically. Other CMD commands to help fix this error include:

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

bootrec /scanos

bootrec /rebuildbcd

Fingers crossed.......

I had this same thing (or at least a very similar thing) happen to me just the other day, I cant say if exact same issue as yours, but in my case I went and did chores for... I dont remember, maybe 15-45 minutes? and then the login bar appeared when I got back and pressed a key, it was as if some unusually slow process still hadnt finished loading in the background.

I've been able to force the PC into Startup Repair, problem is I have no keyboard or mouse function with it.

I have let it set for hours and no change. But will leave it a while longer to see if anything happens.

Do you see any accessibility button on the splash screen? if so, what happens if you push it?

only thing on splash screen is date/time and the wireless network indicator. Nothing else and all clicks act like it wants to scroll up and faintly in the background I see for a second the login bubble. But can't get to it
