I would think you'd want to consider the average distance as opposed to either end of the spectrum. For what it's worth.

I'm thinking on flat ground and swinging 12/6, Links is limited to 285 yards. Even a max/6 does not get you much over 300. The average drive on the Pro Tour these days is close to 300 without overrevving. You have to go down 68 places to find a player averaging less than 300.

If Links could be reset to say 300 yds for a 12/6, I'd be happy... but we all know that's not going to happen.

And yes, I realize De Chambeau's prowess did him little good at Augusta. I'm surprised a person as smart as he is wouldn't know that Augusta is a FIR, GIR (and the right parts of greens), chipping and putting course more than it is a power course.
