Wingfoot will be released in time for US Open.
These are the "Good Ole Days", just wait and see.

The minute I see in available at linkscorner, I'll download it and try to get it analyzed and sent off to Mark for use.

I'll download the pre-beta, just to take a first look also.

I've looked briefly at the pre-beta. It's well along and I hope it can be ready. I noticed a couple of things

In several instances I saw trees growing right out of the cart path.

It may be purposeful on the part of the author, but it looks like bulk planting of little grass tufts have overlayed the cart path. It's not a bad look. If the path were gravel, you would expect grass to work its way to the top. The texture in the APCD is concrete.

I'm sure the tee area on No 8 will be taken care of.

Again, I hope it will be ready and I hope I'll be notified the second the final is put up to linkstour.

No, I suppose I should. I figured there are probably assigned beta testers?

I just posted over there with additional comments. This is a very important course long term. Winged Foot is a classic and I'm glad someone has taken it on.

That looks like the Beta for the East course, not West.

That was pointed out to me. Still, if the west course is finalized and put the linkscorner, I'll analyze it and make a decision. It's hard for me to believe it will have had sufficient testing in less than 3 weeks (SEP 17 - 20 U.S. Open*).

Bethpage Black is a good test. If anyone can come up with something more akin to Winged Foot that is a sufficient test, I'll consider it. It necessarily has to have narrow fairways and heavy rough.

Dorse is using Strakaline books for the greens, and he's one of the best we've got. If we need it added quickly, I can do it.

I am setting up at Westchester for the European Tour US Open event.

Probably won't have time to set up Winged Foot as I will hopefully be away on holiday with my wife between 11-18 September. Also hoping my dad will be able to go, as it was for him we were going away. He has a biopsy scheduled this coming Thursday, so we will have to see if they decide it needs treatment immediately before we know if he is able to go.

Holiday? Who authorized that?

It was booked in February before the UK went into lockdown. May have to be careful where we go and wear masks, but it is much needed.
