I recommend the following right after a Windows update...

Ctrl-Alt-Del, then click Task Manager
Wait for the CPU usage to stabilize at a low

Windows does a lot of addition activities after it comes back up from an update. If you play Links too soon, you might notice glitches in your swing meter.

Ctrl-Shift-Esc is quicker to your destination. However i think there are few experiencing that problem.
It kinda depends on what you drive.
