What is the hardest shot in Links golf?

for me it's the short sand shot. Say less than 35 feet. I have never given time to try the chip shot from sand so it's a question of underhitting a shot. I just cant get the right bottom snap on the shot and quite often only manage half way.

Most annoying is a dead straight putt over 10 or 12 feet , and missing the snap which means missing the pott.

For me it's all of them!
Although I have no idea how to play a fairway bunker when the ball is plugged.

Usually just play it out and take the potential punishment :D

I've noticed the plugged bunker shot seems to travel 3 or 4 times further than you think it will.

downhill lie with water to go over and a front pin position.

Similar - Downhill lie in a greenside bunker, shortsided and the green up high.

By the way, I was at a tournament in Portland, OR years ago, and watched Fred Couples hit a shot much the same as the one you mentioned. It was only slightly downhill, but he had to go under a tree limb in front of him, then about 100 yds to the green, with water in the front. Hit a line drive that landed on the front edge of the green, rolled about 5 or 10 feet and stopped on a dime just short of the hole. Simply amazing.

Judging if a club will clear the trees when trying to cut the dogleg.

Bitten by that one many a time  One of the very rare times I will fade/draw the ball if it's possible to do that and find the fairway.

I always seem to surprise and impress myself by consistently putting the ball within a feet with short bunker shots somehow, I use flop LW and full to 80% swing based on distance and hitting snap around 6:30 (classic swing). If missing at 6 it goes harder and higher but with more spin, and if missing at 7 it goes lower and shorter but with less spin and some roll, so its a fairly low risk shot. Ive never tried chip bunker shots. Hopefully I havent contributed to getting you to score even lower though Roy, really, youre insane! I've trouble with fairway bunker shots instead, and any Rough lie from beyond 160 yards when needing to carry, and honestly I find teeshots one of the hardest strokes in Links on challenging courses, especially with any kind of headwind.

Not really a hard shot but annoying, looks like a clear shot to the green only to hit those invisible tree branches.

The thing is for me I think I know what to do but I almost always fail to hit the right snap if I can't do a full swing. Just no rythym for the shot. I want to hit 25 feet and it goes 15 which rarely makes the green. Drives me mad

Powerstroke part shots inside 60 yards, where chipping isn't an option.
I know the standard distances for all my clubs, including moving it in the stance, but those part shots can be a real pain due to the variation in clubhead speed

A 6" putt. (Although I've been known to miss those too.)

Actually, the one shot, other than a short putt, that I know I can sink most of the time, is a 9 iron chip shot, uphill, fairly straight, just off the green, about 20' from the pin.
