I can fully understand an APCD author trying to get a course into production that is used on the PGA Tour. I think it's important to have every course used on the tour out there... but La Quinta is not ready. It needs a ton of vert work, seam blends and the panorama is completely wrong. One can see Mt. San Jacinto from the course, but it's far in the distance. That would be the only place you could possibly see fir trees. At least 7/8 of the pano would be desert rock (see PGA West Palmer).
Again, getting it to market to put out yet another tour course is admirable, but this one is just not ready. I would encourage the PLSA tour director to use PGA West Palmer until La Quinta is ready for prime time... then use both courses next year. Palmer is a BETA, but it's a well-done, realistic facsimile of the RL course.
La Quinta is not locked, but I would never presume to work on another author's course without permission... and I'm working on two other courses right now.
