Merry day after Christmas (Boxing day, I guess). Question for you, Rob. Do Australians go all out with decorating and outdoor light displays as we do here in the states?

yes Rick, same 'down here'. Same as you guys 'up there'.....we go all out, houses decorated inside and out with Xmas tinsel and Xmas trees. Shopping centers are lit with decorations and hum with Xmas carols. The differance is we don't have snow ! LOL we never do anyway. And we believe that Santa's sleigh is towed by Kangaroos LOL. Xmas celebration lunch is family orientated........its all about family, children. Presents exchanged. Santa hats and bon bons (crackers) are mandatory at lunch. A mix of seafood is eaten with a more traditional food of chicken ham and salad. Beer flows, with a toast given usually with champagne. Usually hot days with the beautiful chorus of cicadas in the background. After lunch, it is mandatory to partake in 'backyard CRICKET' ! Its all about being with the family.....

being (still) a majority Christian country, the religious aspect of Xmas is also acknowkledged.

HOWEVER ! there are those minority Socialist-Left POLITICALLY CORRECT [censored] groups WHO wish to and go to extremes to stamp out Xmas here, by trying to ban the playing of Xmas carols at shopping centers, giving the B.S. reason that other religions will be OFFENDED (??) by a joyful Christian religeous celebration.

Boxing Day is an Australian public holiday on the 26th, where one relaxes to wear off a hangover........and dabble in a little Links GOLF :D :D

Thanks Rob.
Yes, the PC movement is strong here also. I have a Christmas tree, I send out Christmas cards, open Christmas gifts, and wish everyone I see a merry Christmas. Excuse me if I offend anyone.
