Just finished watching the funeral services for George H.W. B ush. Very moving and often humorous ceremony. And I knew there was a reason I liked the man. Two words...speed golf.

Difficult for me to watch.

It was sad, indeed. But, it was the most beautiful funeral that I have ever seen.

Agreed.....very moving!! Many instances, it brought tears to my eyes. My dad was a WWII Marine Vet. Served in the South Pacific as well.

My Father served in Army/Air Force and was a POW for a year in Germany.

If you ever have an opportunity to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial it is well worth it.

It certainly is. But be advised, the USS Arizona memorial is closed for repairs until next March. There are plenty of other relevant sites to visit though.

I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the reminder. Just being there standing over the Arizona was a pretty moving experience. I am thinking today of my Father-In-Law who served in the Navy and was at Saipan. What a profound sacrifice his generation made for us (including President 41) And not to take anything away from those other generations who have served us sacrificially in the military over the years. A big thanks to all of you.

any sites in Australia ? not planning to visit Hawaii in the near future

it was the attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese that caused America to fully enter WW2 in the Pacific, WHICH helped save Australia from being overrun by the Japanese.....forever grateful !
