Links2003 and Windows10

I have recently bought a HP Laptop with windows 10 on it and tried to Load Links 2003, but to no avail. But it may be because I have been using Program files 32 bit and this new one only has 84 bit that could be the crux of the matter.
Please can someone help tell me I am an Ol' geezer of 86 years and although I used to be a lecturer for ICL (International Computers Ltd) way back from 1984 to 1992, I am not too conversant with Microsoft 10. Windows 96 yes

First thing to try is to install is as Administrator.

Also if your laptop has on-board graphics that might also be an issue.

WackerWoods, when you say QUOTE: "and tried to Load Links 2003, but to no avail" .........do you mean that you have successfully installed Links2003, BUT it wont START ? you may need to install the modified RuKsHuk.exe that Mark released a few years back. And drag that into your main Links folder........

http://www.lspn.net/downloads/RuKsHuK.exe

a 32bit Links, runs perfectly fine with Windows 64bit and on board/chip graphics. It does with my Windows7.

You are not really giving much information here. Hp laptop with windows 10 (there are many of them, some good, some junk) a model and serial number would do wonders for someone trying to help to determine what kind of oomph your computer has. A 64 bit operating system would have no bearing on Links 2003 as it would just load via program files (x86) which is where all 32 bit programs head to on a 64 bit operating system.

I would love to assist you in getting your HP to play the game, but since you are unable or unwilling to give up any information on this computer there is not a whole lot i can do for your graphic problems except to tell you to play around with different graphic drivers.
I can however help with 3/4 display size. When you start the game click on options, then graphic settings, once there put a tick in the full screen button. While there try pulling that slider near the bottom under picture quality all the way to the left and see if that helps.
Lastly while you are on that page tell us what it says for device. Then maybe we can help.

Good luck

This helped, i now know you have a hp notebook with a 1.8ghz amd quad core processor with 8GB DDR3L SDRAM pushing R6 integrated graphics. The native resolution the notebook is set to is 1600 x 900 which is why it appears on 3/4 of the screen. Bring your resolution down to 1024 x 768 then before you fire links up right click your links icon and select properties, which will open a box with 6 tabs at the top, click on the compatibility tab and put a tick in the run this game in compatibility mode for ( pick the oldest version of windows it shows... preferably XP )and put a tick in the disable display scaling on high DPI settings click apply then ok.

Fire the game up,it should show full screen then.

Links and integrated graphics don't have a gr8 relationship in general, but folk have gotten the game to play but generally not with all the bells and whistles. Also extended play might not be possible because of heat issues, additionally you may want to go to amd's website and upgrade the video drivers.

If your still have problems afterwards, let us know the nature and we can take it from there.

Hi Mississippi. I loaded Links 2003 and fired up Practice round. The screen display was full size thank you. However there are problems with the display. It says TOP CAM LOADED, but there was none on display. When shot was played the screen broke up and showed start of the stroke.
It is the screen which is having problems. I loaded v1.07 and also Graphics update but to no avail.
Frustrated Wacker

Integrated Graphic problems is what we have boiled your problems down to, getting around them will require tinkering on your part. Its time to get very familiar with your Integrated graphics Mr.Woods.
Read thru this thread paying attention to 3d setting's listed
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11021&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
Even tho they are talking Nvidia, Radeon cards work the same way.
Not all drivers are created equal.....go to AMD's website and download 4-5 versions of drivers(some new, some old) for your A6 and roll back your drivers looking for the 1 that works best. In game... help your notebook by pushing that slider in graphic options to the left.
We wish you luck on your endeavors and if you have success please report what you did to help the next fella that heads down your road.....and remember,
The surefire way to get links 2003 to play right is to play it on a machine with a video "card" not sharing memory with windows processing.

tHANKS Mississippi for all your help and patience with me. I shall try your suggestions.
I am using my old sit up and bag HP going back to 1996 but it is getting clapped out and needs replacing, hence the HP laptop, which my daughter bought me for my 85th birthday.
Thanks once again
