great course! very well done by john aherne. i was in one of my horrendous 'snappy was just a shade late' modes this morning, so i got lots of practice from the rough, and those cute little pot bunkers (my real adjective for the pot bunkers wasn't 'cute'). but this is the type of course i enjoy the heck out of. rewarded for good shots, pay the price for bad.

i spotted michael a few shots in the stableford. make him overconfident. put the hammer down in the 4th round. ((8

Dave the other day: "I can also state that there is not a single course that is in there because of my inability to play it. If that were the case, most of my favorite courses would be in there, such as Firestone, Muirfield, any of the links-style courses that we play, and many more"

Nice opening 62 at Portmarnock :D

It's a nice course, I agree, as long as you stay on the short stuff it's pretty easy, but stray into pot bunkers or even worse the long grass and the mellow atmosphere evaporates. Maybe I should have thrown in a windy round...

Thanks, T. You're right about me liking it. There's just something about links-style courses that get my attention. And it helps when the putter is working. I had a very disappointing 3-putt on 14, and missed a couple of 6-footers for bird, but managed my way around the course quite well. I might've scared a couple of bunkers, but stayed out of them. As far as keeping it going, I always try. Each round with me is like a new day. Enjoy it regardless of what it may bring, and hope you wake up tomorrow for another go-around.

Thanks, Michael. For one round anyway I'm in your class. Hopefully I can hang in the rest of the way.
I managed to miss where I was still left with a chance to land short of the green and run it up or at worst be left with a chance to chip it close or in.
I'm looking forward to see what you're giving us the rest of the way.

finished 4th, was sent away tarred and feathered. Hit fairways at any cost!
Hate those shots where you don't clear the sod wall and the ball goes the wrong way.

i've certainly had my share of those. however, at portmarnock, i refrained from being greedy, and simply popped a half dozen or so out sideways and took my medicine.

so this is a michael setup? great job! i was surprised i had to download the course. usually, if it's been around for awhile, the only reason i don't have it, is if i've deleted it. but michael is a master when it comes to setting up a tournament. as is lw & gib'. (8

Course has only been around since mid-april, T. Explains why neither one of us had it. We can count on Michael to find the pearls! He's done it before.

With the score you posted in the 4th, Michael, can't wait to see what adventures I'll have!

I'm not waiting for the last day to finish an event that I really want to finish anymore(famous last words). That was too nice of an event to not finish. :( Thanks, Michael, for setting this up.
