Complete Access/Microsoft Course List

Hello fellow Links Corner and LSPN members.

I am happy and proud to present here (in world premiere) what I think it's the most complete list of Links courses released by Access/Microsoft in CRZ format. It all started in the end of July 2009, when I found Crissy's list to be the most complete and followed it, but soon I discovered it was incomplete. Crissy's list in LSPN was 133 courses, very complete but not totally.

Little by little I found more and more courses to raise this number to 141 known courses, and knowing the sources of 139 of them. Knowing the source, wether it's from an official game, course add-on, or conversion from CRX, was important, to assert that the course was really from Access/Microsoft and from the Links series, and not some hack or badly copied file. Buying all the course packs in internet and getting some more original games helped a lot.

This list was actually finished a month ago when I got the Kapalua Bay add-on for LS97 and got the last course I needed; I've been rechecking all the sources again (literally two hundreds of Links games, add-ons and stuff) and ensuring that all this data was correct during all february.

My initial idea when I started this project past year was to gather the data and expose it in a cross-referenced list of all Links releases and courses (including all four formats) in a decent site for which I have even finished the name and logo. However I felt a bit lazy about programming, and next week I'm leaving for 2-3 months to a place without internet or computers. I thought it was a waste that now that the list is complete, it's going to be sitting useless for months. So I decided to just make a simple text version and share it so collectors and curious people can check with confidence if they have a complete collection. I'm only going to post it in two places, Links Corner and LSPN.

Of course the list is missing all the releases/sources details which are known for all courses except for codes #479 & #441, and my personal notes and some more data which is useless in this state. I'll release all the data when I come back, so all the Links collectors, no matter if they're interested just in some part of the Links series or in all the whole deal, can get a reasonably complete list of all Links releases, including different versions and whatnot from Links: The Challenge Of Golf to Links 2003 and also Mac ports and more stuff I couldn't have imagined that existed.

This list is copied here as a simple version with just names, filenames and sizes in bytes. There's a much more complete version with more course data so you can check which exact version of each course you can find. It's served as a tab-delimited text file you can import in your favourite spreadsheet like Excel, OpenOffice.org Calc, or whatever you want. You can find it attached to this post.

Note about codes: each course has an unique number ID attached to it. This ID is arbitrary, but when I remade the list I assigned the ID's following a simple classification of CRZ courses:
* Courses 401-420 are CRZ originally released in Links 2001 games and add-ons.
* Courses 421-514 are CRZ converted from a CRX source.
* Courses 601-627 are CRZ originally released in Links 2003 games and add-ons.

Note about Three Canyons: If you're searching for threecan2k1.crz, it's course #507, just with a different name. Otherwise the files are the same, byte by byte.

Note about checksums: Maybe you don't know what a CRC32 and SHA-1 are; they are checksums which can serve to identify a file. There are dozens of freeware apps which can calculate the CRC32 or SHA-1 checksums of files. Use Google, or wait until someone posts a good one in this thread.
