I've been able to play (no idea why), but for some, it looks like a Links pause until Mark updates the certificate.

DON'T WRITE THE HTTP://
JUST THE … WWW.LSPN.NET

It is working very well if you do it correctly

As ususal I dont understand stuff. I get on here with no problem, don't know anything about HTTP or whatever.
But trying to play a round all I do is load up the game...no problem. Click on online, click on the Links Tour , enter name and password so Im ready to select a tournament to play in.

Then when I do all that it wont let me get to the T anymore. It was fine for a few days when others were having problems but then on Monday I got the Links has stopped working message after 3 holes and havent been able to play a hole since.

Is this really saying there is something I should do when I load the game up rather than clicking on Online?

Just hope it gets sorted one day soon but it feels like Ive got quite a Links holiday in front of me.

1. Open the Windows Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Links 2003\LinksTour
3. Double click on the Server key and change the value from server.lspn.net to http://www.lspn.net ( you don't need the http:// start with www)
4. Close the Registry Editor
5. Start Links 2003 and you will be connected to the new server

Indeed, it is much better without the http://
thank you ;-)

Thanks but seeing I don’t know what the windows registry editor is I’m lost immediately .

Maybe I’ll find someone does to see if it would make things work.

Got my expert to follow this and the answer was “ that’s already how it is set up”

So still sadly unable to play a round. Unless I feel like playing practice rounds…which I don’t

I don’t get an error code. When I try to get to the T it goes black and the message I get is Links has stopped working, then after that another message saying a problem has caused the programme to stop working.

And that’s it. The sumtotal of my time on Links each day is about 30 seconds to see if the problem is still there LOL

When you get ready to play again, get a new computer or take it to the shop. Yours is dying my friend, a tech can tell which part. Your issue has nothing to do with expired certificates, it is an expiring computer i'm afraid.

So if it’s the computer how come everything else works perfectly on it?
You might be right but I somehow doubt it

just my 2 cents (AUD) worth ........
but is it possible Roy, can you uninstall Links from your computer and reinstall it from scratch ?
OR wait it out till Mark returns and rectifies the "Certificate problem" then tee off, see what happens ?

"A black screen when starting a game can be caused by several factors, including outdated or faulty graphics drivers, overheating components, or issues with the game's settings or installation. To troubleshoot, start by updating your graphics drivers and checking for game updates. You can also try lowering the game's graphics settings and ensuring your system meets the game's requirements. If the problem persists, consider checking your monitor connections, power supply, and running a disk cleanup or scan for malware." AI overview.
More often than not it ends up being hardware failure

so Links works OK when playing PRACTICE rounds but not online LSPN events ?
indicates gremlines thru to the LSPN servers ......... maybe Mark can detect something when he gets back :P

I’ll have to wait till Mark comes back and hope IT , whatever IT is , gets rectified. I appreciate your thoughts Echoes but I really am the ultimate technophobe and have no clue about the suggestions. I just about know how to switch on ,press certain buttons and if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work. I long thought my time playing Links might end and maybe tha5 time has come.
